Summary

Sipán and the Royal Tombs Museum in Peru reveal the archaeology of the Moche civilisation. Excavated burials and carefully presented objects preserve evidence of ceremonial life, status and exceptional metalwork.

The objects make a vanished social world unusually tangible. Fine craftsmanship and burial context connect visual beauty with the beliefs and power of the people who commissioned them.
