The story of a place
A Chachapoya settlement above the forested mountains of northern Peru.
Kuélap's great walls enclose a high settlement whose circular building remains distinguish it from better-known Andean sites. The surrounding cloud-forest landscape is integral to the experience.
Conservation problems and access changes have affected visits. Any itinerary should begin with current official information, not an assumption that all areas shown in older photographs are open.
