Curiosity with clear sources

How these guides
are made.

A personal collection, supported by researched editorial guides and credited photography.

The list and the guides

Alex chose The Original 100 after travel to over 100 countries, reading dozens of books and consulting numerous websites. The ranking and the public project story belong to Alex. The expanded guides and journal use AI-assisted research and writing to explain the places and help readers plan.

Experience and interpretation

A guide is not a claim that Alex personally carried out every activity, followed every suggested route or took the photographs shown. First-person memories have not been invented. The journey page identifies the separate September 2026 project snapshot of 85 visited wonders.

Sources and practical details

Background and official visitor links accompany the guides. Practical suggestions are editorial starting points. Fees, timetables, routes, access, weather and travel advice can change. A page update date records an editorial revision, not a guarantee that every linked service was independently rechecked on that date. Specific source checks are identified where stated.

Accessibility and suitability

Physical profiles describe the general nature of an experience. They do not certify step-free access or suitability for an individual. Ask the institution or operator about the exact route, transport chain and assistance you need. Family collections likewise suggest approaches rather than assigning universal age ratings.

Photography

Photographs are credited to their creators with source and licence links. They are perspectives on a place, not promises of a particular season, visibility or access. Archive images are labelled separately; different viewpoints and crops are not presented as precise surveys. The pictures are not described as Alex’s own travel photography.

Maps and broad entries

The main atlas covers all five collections, with different colours for their ranks. Some broad entries use representative locations. Local maps identify selected components and gateways, not legal boundaries or guaranteed navigable routes. Adding a place to a personal list does not change The Original 100.

Corrections

If you find an error or a changed practical detail, a specific source is especially helpful. Send a correction or suggestion.

How to use the practical information

Trip lengths and seasons are planning suggestions. Map pins locate a place, not a confirmed visitor entrance. Use the linked visitor authorities to check current transport, opening, reservations and access for your dates.

A guide’s edit date records changes to its text. It does not mean every practical detail was independently checked on that day. A source-check date is given only where that review has actually taken place.

How the guides work

Maps locate places and regions; use the visitor authority’s directions for entrances and permitted routes. Seasons and suggested days are planning guidance. Opening, access, transport and booking conditions can change, so follow the linked authorities before travelling.

Update dates record editorial work on practical notes, not a personal visit or a guarantee of current services. Photographs carry individual credits and licences. “Look for this” cards offer observations for a visit.
