Summary

Murchison Falls is a waterfall on the Nile in Uganda, where the river is forced through a narrow rock passage. The falls form a dramatic focus within a larger national park of river, woodland and savannah habitats.

The compression of so much water gives the site its power. The surrounding wildlife landscape extends the experience, connecting the celebrated gorge with a much broader living river system.

Murchison Falls National Park is a national park in Uganda managed by the Ugandan Wildlife Authority. Located in north-western Uganda, it spreads inland from the shores of Lake Albert around the Victoria Nile up to the Karuma Falls.
