A different way into the world
Follow the idea.
Find your places.
Great decorative schemes reward a slower eye. A mosaic changes as the light catches its surface; carved figures become more legible when you understand their sequence; a painted room can be organised around the movement of the viewer. These are experiences that a single wide photograph struggles to communicate.
Begin with the whole space before choosing a detail. Ask what the material allows an artist to do, how repeated forms establish a pattern and where the pattern deliberately changes. Good interpretation helps connect craftsmanship to belief, power and daily life. The aim is not to identify every figure, but to leave with a more attentive way of seeing.
Follow one narrative or repeated motif through a whole scheme.
