Summary

East Rennell is a protected landscape on Rennell Island in the Solomon Islands, with a large lake inside a raised coral island. Forest and inhabited areas support distinctive ecology within an isolated Pacific setting.

The island’s form makes its natural history especially interesting. Former reef structures and the enclosed lake create habitats that differ markedly from the usual image of a low tropical atoll.
