Sydney is broader than one building, Pompeii’s entry includes related archaeological sites, and the Plitvice and Krka entry spans two parks. Read the guide’s scope before deciding what your visit represents. You do not have to pretend that one component means you have seen everything.

Better travel decisions
What counts as visiting a wonder?
A useful personal record begins with a clear, honest definition.

There is no universal rule for a personal travel record. A city, a monument, a large region and a natural event do not ask for the same kind of encounter. The useful approach is to choose a definition you can apply honestly and consistently.
On this site, “Been there” is your self-recorded experience. It is separate from whether a place belongs in My Top 100.

Record the particular experience
The visit log lets you add a date and the components you experienced. “Walked the harbour and visited the Opera House” is a more useful memory than an unexplained tick. You can return later without erasing the earlier visit.

Let the list and the record differ
You may have visited somewhere without placing it in your top 100. You may also rank a place you strongly want to see. Keep those decisions distinct, and use milestones to preserve a snapshot of your progress without treating travel as a competition.
