Iguazú combines the falls with a humid forest environment. Victoria Falls brings the river and gorge into a different landscape. In each case, consider the authorised viewpoints on both sides of the border as separate visits with separate practical requirements.

Better travel decisions
Iguazú or Victoria Falls?
The waterfall decision is also a decision about landscape and season.

Choose Iguazú if a rainforest setting and a sequence of waterfall views most appeal. Choose Victoria Falls if the great curtain, gorge and wider southern African journey are the stronger draw. Both deserve more than one fixed photographic expectation.
Water levels can change the view, the spray and the available visitor routes. “More water” is not automatically the best condition for every activity.
Choose the seasonal trade-off
Iguazú has a year-round visiting context without one sharply defined dry season. Victoria Falls has a more pronounced high- and low-water cycle, especially significant on parts of the Zambian side. Use current conditions to refine the broad seasonal choice.

Make the wider route sensible
Compare the gateways, border arrangements and onward journey you actually want. Do not add a river activity simply because it appears in a brochure; its availability and suitability depend on conditions and the provider. A falls-focused visit can be complete without an adventure excursion.
