The story behind the picture

Three landscapes, three questions

Iceland's Golden Circle combines distinct experiences: a rift landscape, geothermal activity and a major waterfall. Their proximity makes a convenient route, but each is more interesting when visited with its own question. Look at the land at Thingvellir, the behaviour of water at Geysir and the river's form at Gullfoss.

Allow time at the stops rather than measuring the day only by driving distance. Check current roads, weather and site guidance before departure.
