Photographs show different viewpoints, dates and conditions. They do not establish current access to a particular route. Every image is credited below.
At the Grand Canyon, the far rim first gives scale; changing layers and side canyons then make the scene more legible. Stay with a viewpoint long enough for light and shadow to separate the landscape. A short permitted walk along the rim can add variety without turning the visit into a descent. Going down introduces a very different physical commitment.
Pick a rim-based visit or a properly planned trail day. Distance alone is a poor guide to the effort of climbing back out.
