Summary

Charyn Canyon is an eroded river canyon in southeastern Kazakhstan. Rock towers, steep walls and narrow passages reveal dramatic landforms within the wider country near the region’s mountains.

Its sculpted forms reward both broad and close views. Repeated towers give the canyon a distinctive rhythm, while the river reveals the process behind the striking shapes.
